Miscarriage. Stillbirth. Ectopic Pregnancy. Unfortunately, these circumstances affect hundreds of thousands of families each year in the United States. Resolve Through Sharing (RTS) Bereavement Services is a program designed to help parents, friends and family who experience these tragedies.
RTS Bereavement Services is a comprehensive hospital based program that offers support to parents who lose a baby during pregnancy or soon after birth. Certified grief counselors are on hand to meet a family's individual needs at the time of loss. Counselors offer emotional and spiritual support, answer questions and provide guidance. A companion follow-up support program is also provided.
Facilitated by Sunrise staff nurses, this program allows couples and mothers to share their experiences with each other throughout the many stages of the bereavement process. This on-going support group is free and available to all parents whether or not they gave birth at Sunrise Childrens Hospital. Friends and family are also welcome.
Additionally, RTS provides bereavement support for families as well as honors the young victims through its annual "Walk to Remember" event dedicated to the thousands of babies who die each year. Held nationwide every October in conjunction with National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, Walk to Remember unites those who have gone through similar losses.
